Exhibition “Lithuania in Litvak Arts" at the Tolerance Centre of Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum
On June 6 at the Tolerance Centre of Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum (Naugarduko st. 10/2, Vilnius) the exhibition “Lithuania in Litvak Arts”, devoted to the Centennial of the restored State of Lithuania will be opened. Lewben Art Foundation is among the lenders for the exhibition.
Visitors will admire the early paintings of such world famous painters as Neemiya Arbit Blatas, Max Band and Issai Kulvianski that are rarely exhibited, very few in numbers and represent the early Lithuanian period in the creative life of the artists. Art lovers will be offered an opportunity to enjoy the feeling of getting immersed in the artistic childhood memories of Samuel Bak, Théo Tobiasse, Jose Gurvich and other Litvak painters. Poetry lovers will enjoy reading poems translated from Yiddish, whereas history, music and theater fans will have an opportunity to learn a lot of new things at the exhibition. The exhibition is accompanied by an audio guide for visually impaired.
The exhibition is based on the collections of the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum. It has been supplemented with visual and documentary material kindly provided by other museums, archives and private collections of Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Italy, Israel, Russia, USA and Uruguay.
