"Random Rapid Heartbeats" is the name of the Contemporary Art Centre Vilnius’ exhibition at the Tallinn Art Hall featuring selected projects from the last three years of the CAC’s programme. The title describes the physical dynamic between two similar institutions, both of whom focus on organising temporary exhibitions, continually seeking to reconsider themselves and remain open to the vitality of creative ideas. Each project raises new questions and challenges for the institution as a whole, for every member of CAC’s different creative and administrative departments involved in the programming. In this way, it merges individual pulses into one general pulse that is sometimes strong and rhythmic and at other times soft and arrhythmic. The exhibition highlights the shows produced by the CAC which have changed the institution itself. Like a living archive, the shows have travelled to Tallinn in a different form, adapting to the new exhibition space. In this way, their recreation takes on a living, even corporeal, feeling of shared experience.

Participating artists: Nina Beier, Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys, Pakui Hardware, Vytenis Jankūnas, Žilvinas Landzbergas, David Maljković, Sebastian Diaz Morales, Emilija Škarnulytė.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that in addition to covering CAC’s activities from the last three years also critically engages with the life of an art institution in the Baltics in general.

Also on 22 October a screening will take place in Tallinn Cinema House, showcasing video works of Nick Bastis and Darius Mikšys, Gerda Paliušytė, Vitalijus Strigunkovas that were produced in the context of XII Baltic Triennial.

Random Rapid Heartbeats will take place in all three venues of Tallinn Art Hall – the main hall (Vabaduse väljak 8), Art Hall Gallery (Vabaduse väljak 6) and City Gallery (Harju 13).
