International conference “Roles and Relevance of Art Foundation and Space” in Seoul, South Korea
The international art exchange conference “Roles and Relevance of Art Foundation and Space” took place in Seoul, South Korea, on November 27, 2023. The event was organised by “The Sun Blanket Foundation” and the “MMCA Residency Changdong”. Ugnė Bužinskaitė represented the Lewben Art Foundation at the conference.
The event is part of a larger series of international cultural and artistic exchange activities held both in South Korea and abroad. At the centre of the conference emerged a roundtable discussion about the value of new museums for urban development and the cultural industries. This discussion was in line with the Lewben Art Foundation's ongoing project to open a new museum in Vilnius and served as an important networking platform.
Notable attendees included curator and educator Tessa Maria Guazon from Manila, art director at the Sun Blanket Foundation Taeho Choi, curator and artist Owen Paul Armour from Copenhagen, and Marie Martraire, director of collections and special programmes at “KADIST,” as well as the director of the Lewben Art Foundation, Ugnė Bužinskaitė, and “IMPLMNT” architects studio director, architect Aurimas Syrusas.
The collaboration between the Sun Blanket Foundation and the Lewben Art Foundation has a long history, and includes the organisation of conferences and exhibitions such as “New Age of Baltic” in Seoul, which featured the works of emerging Baltic region artists.
