Shapes and Forms. A Satellite Exhibition of ArtVilnius’16 from the Lewben Art Foundation

This June the exhibition “Shapes and Forms” of contemporary art from the collection of the Lewben Art Foundation at the Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square (Universiteto str. 14, Vilnius) will open. It is a satellite exhibition of the Lewben Art Foundation’s project “Shaping Ideas: Sculptures” at the international contemporary art fair ArtVilnius’16 at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO (from 9 to 12 June 2016).

This exhibition offers a journey through the different shapes and forms of contemporary art from the collection of the Lewben Art Foundation. It is a satellite exhibition of the Lewben Art Foundation’s project “Shaping Ideas: Sculptures” at the international contemporary art fair ArtVilnius’16 at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO (from 9 to 12 June 2016). According to Francesca Ferrarini, the curator of both exhibitions, throughout the last century, artists experimented with different materials and ideas, sometimes combining abstraction and figurativeness, and even going beyond the material.

This exhibition presents works by nine contemporary artists: Los Carpinteros (formed 1992, Cuba/Spain), Jake & Dinos Chapman (b. 1966 and 1962, Great Britain), Jack Greer (b. 1987, USA), Thomas Houseago (b. 1972, Great Britain/USA), Bertrand Lavier (b. 1949, France), Mohamed Namou (b. 1987, Algeria/France), Pedro Reyes (b. 1972, Mexico), Gabriele De Santis (b. 1983, Italy), and Erwin Wurm (b. 1954, Austria).
