X YPP: Vilmantas Marcinkevičius. Cross The Line
On 8 November at 6 pm at the exhibition halls "Titanikas" (Maironio st. 3, Vilnius) the exhibition "Cross The Line" by Vilmantas Marcinkevičius will open. Marcinkevičius is one of the Young Painter Prize Awards (YPP) initiators and organisers and the solo show is part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the YPP. The project aims at the aspiring art professionals and calls for young artists (up to 30 years of age) from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to showcase their works, therefore exhibition "Cross The Line" only includes artworks created by Marcinkevičius before he turned 30 years old.
Exhibition includes two artworks by Vilmantas Marcinkevičius, which are part of the Lewben Art Foundation's collection.
Vilmantas Marcinkevičius is one of the best known Lithuanian neoexpressionists. His most often used large scale painted canvases are characterised by a bright, almost neon colour palate – dominating primary yellow, blue, red, green colours – which is painted, splattered, drawn in large, structural brushstrokes. Often painting figural compositions, Marcinkevičius creates a surreal reality, in which existential, mythological, philosophical and social themes are analysed.
