The Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen is now showing the first monographic museum exhibition by Katja Novitskova (*1984 in Tallinn, Estonia, lives and works in Amsterdam) in Germany. "Eyes of the World" presents a comprehensive overview of her works from the last 10 years and includes a number of new pieces in which the artist poses pressing questions about the influence of digital data systems and AI algorithms on our visual and spatial experience. The exhibition will be on view from September 01, 2023, to January 14, 2024.

In her works, Novitskova analyses how the technological dimension merges with the physical dimension, which is why the digital collages, sculptures and installations she ceates have earned her the status of a post-internet artist. “The Model of Activation (Rhinos)” depicts two huge rhinos, which only when seen in person can be understood as two-dimensional rather than three-dimensional objects. Meanwhile, the arrow curling up next to them symbolizes capitalist growth. The rapid development of digital technologies has changed the way we perceive space, which is why, according to Novitskova, the boundary between the real world and its image conveyed by technology has been dissolved.
